Jesus Christ said, “It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer.”

Jesus Reveals the Laws of Supreme Blessing, Part 3 (Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign, Day 122 / Day 489 since Jan. 1, 2016)

TEXT: Matthew 5:1-12:

1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:

2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

———-

After preaching the Gospel every day for 367 days straight throughout the 2016 presidential campaign season, I am preaching the Gospel every day throughout the first 100 days of President Donald Trump’s term. If you think a new president being in office is the only thing needed to save America and ‘make America great again’, you are woefully deceived. The church must follow through and “keep the main thing the main thing: and that is reaching unbelievers with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and praying for their salvation, for the problem in America is not only disobedient presidents, politicians, and people, but disobedient pastors, preachers, and parishioners who have refused to obey the Lord’s Great Commission which is to, ‘Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature,’ and who have refused to obey God’s repeated commands to ‘pray without ceasing’ for unbelievers, believers, and political leaders.” So, we encourage you to pray for the new president, but not to get caught up in the political happenings like the world does. Nothing much is going to change until people get saved and get their hearts right with the Lord. And that is what this campaign is all about.

This campaign is inspired by the following three verses: 1 Corinthians 2:2 which says, “For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.” Acts 5:42 which says, “And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.” And 2 Timothy 2:4 which says, “No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.”

This series is not for Christians necessarily. However, I do hope you are one of those saints who still loves to hear the “Old, old story of Jesus and His love” — As another hymn says, “For those who know it best Seem hungering and thirsting to hear it like the rest.” This series is primarily for unbelievers, so they can hear and understand the Gospel and be saved from sin and the punishment of sin which is hell. This is message number 122, day 489 since Jan. 1, 2016.

Henry Drummond said, “The man who has no opinion of himself at all can never be hurt if others do not acknowledge him. Hence, be meek. He who is without expectation cannot fret if nothing comes to him. It is self-evident that these things are so. The lowly man and the meek man are really above all other men, above all other things.”

Today, we will explore the third of Jesus’ laws for supreme blessing. To recap:

#1 is to be “poor in spirit,” that is, to realize and live in accordance to one’s true standing as an undeserving sinner before God. It is these people who will obtain the kingdom of heaven.

#2 is to “mourn” over one’s sins and the sin in the world. It is these who will be comforted by God in the end.

The third law is, “Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.” The word “meek” is not very popular today. Many see it as meaning one who is weak or a pushover. But Moses was meek, and he stood boldly before Pharaoh, demanded that he let the children of Israel go, and brought down judgment from God when Pharaoh didn’t listen. Esther was meek, but she fearlessly stood before King Xerxes and used her influence to thwart Haman’s plan to annihilate the Jews. Jesus was meek, but He continued preaching and teaching publicly even when He knew the authorities were openly seeking to have Him captured or killed.

The true, Biblical meaning of the word “meek” is as follows from the Outline of Biblical Usage, by Larry Pierce: “Meekness toward God is that disposition of spirit in which we accept His dealings as good without disputing or resisting. The meek are those who wholly rely on God [as Moses, Esther, and Jesus did] rather than their own strength to defend against injustice. Gentleness or meekness is the opposite to self-assertiveness and self-interest. It stems from trust in God’s goodness and control over the situation. The meek person is not occupied with self at all. And this is a work of the Holy Spirit, not of the human will.”

For a more modern example of meekness, we can look at the Civil Rights protesters who led sit-ins at restaurants where they were not allowed to eat because of the color of their skin. It took far more strength to sit there and let people mock them, jeer at them, and pour ketchup and mustard and salt on them, than it would have taken for them to get up, fuss, fight, and demand to be served as our human nature is prone to do. Meekness is not weakness. Meekness is true, Holy Spirit-empowered strength. Why? Because the meek person puts his trust in God, not in himself and what he can do. Moses’ words and miracles all came from God. Esther’s plan to deliver her people from Haman came together after she fasted and prayed to God. Jesus regularly went apart to talk to the Heavenly Father in order to gain strength and direction for His journey on earth.

It is these people — the meek — the ones who choose to rely on God instead of themselves — who will inherit the earth. It often seems as though the meek get the short end of the deal. But God will ensure that this is not ultimately the case. Charles Spurgeon said, “It looks as if they would be pushed out of the world, but they shall not be. The wolves devour the sheep, yet there are more sheep in the world than there are wolves, and the sheep continue to multiply, and to feed in the green pastures.” The world continues to tell us that, in order to get ahead and in order to get everything you want in life, you have to push yourself forward, “believe in yourself,” and “put yourself out there.” But, in the end, it is those who rely on God to put them where He wants them to be who get all they need, all they want, and so much more.

May our spirit be the same as that expressed in these words by Adelaide A. Pollard:

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Thou art the Potter, I am the clay.
Mold me and make me after Thy will,
While I am waiting, yielded and still.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Search me and try me, Master, today!
Whiter than snow, Lord, wash me just now,
As in Thy presence humbly I bow.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Wounded and weary, help me, I pray!
Power, all power, surely is Thine!
Touch me and heal me, Savior divine.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Hold over my being absolute sway!
Fill with Thy Spirit till all shall see
Christ only, always, living in me.

Jesus cares so much for you that He did not leave you to wallow in your grief. He came to save you so that, one day, you will never have to feel the effects of sin ever again. Come to Jesus now, placing all your faith and trust in Him for eternal salvation.

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now that is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.

Romans 10:9 & 13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your salvation today, please pray with me this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins, and today I choose to turn from my sins. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Jesus Christ as my Savior and I choose to follow Him as Lord from this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

If you believed in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried, and rose again, allow me to say, congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour!
