— President Trump Should Establish a Scholarship for Black Students at his Alma Mater

Ecclesiastes 7:12 says, “For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.”

Matthew Henry said on this verse, “Wisdom is necessary to the right managing and improving of our worldly possessions: An inheritance is good for little without wisdom. Though a man have a great estate, though it come easily to him, by descent from his ancestors, if he does not have wisdom, he had better have been without it. Wisdom is not only good for the poor, to make them content and easy, but it is good for the rich too, good with riches to keep a man from getting hurt by them, and to enable a man to do good with them.”

In this verse, Solomon says that there are two things that can make your life better — wisdom and money. It is best to have both, but it is not good to have money without wisdom. If you have money and no wisdom, you will end up like the prodigal son, wasting your life and ending up worse than you were before. If you had to choose between the two, Solomon implies that we ought to choose wisdom and knowledge. He says, “The excellency of knowledge is that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.” Wisdom, knowledge, and education facilitate the fulfillment of one’s life purpose. Many people who have an abundance of money are some of the most miserable, people in the world. They do not have true “life,” which is much more than money.

Mark Dunagan said, “Whatever protection or comfort money can provide is often negated if such funds are in the hands of an angry, proud, and impatient individual. Even good common sense, not to mention divine wisdom, can keep people from self-destructing through various vices, passions, and emotions.”

People who have wisdom and knowledge are more likely to live a fulfilled life than those who only have money. To that end, we would encourage President Trump to establish a scholarship for black students at his alma mater, Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania. While he cannot extend his early upbringing to anyone, he can provide the value of his educational experience to others.

He can work with organizations such as Black Enterprise and historically black colleges and universities across the U.S. to select candidates for this scholarship. There are young black people all across the nation who dream of becoming architects, real estate agents, and business leaders who don’t have a father who can give them $1 million to help them get started as President Trump’s father did for him. He can give back to America and help the black community by investing in its aspiring young people in this way.

— Now, here is the ninth thing black people can do to help the new president: Black Americans Should Apply for Business Training and Business Loans Under the Trump Administration

Proverbs 13:4 says, “The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.”

Matthew Henry said about this verse, “The slothful nothing; for he that will not labour let him hunger, and let him not eat, but the diligent shall have abundance, and shall have the comfortable enjoyment of it, and the more for its being the fruit of their diligence.”

Proverbs 10:4 says, “He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.”

Matthew Henry said about this verse, “Those who deal with a slack hand, who are careless and remiss in their business, those who deal with a deceitful hand; those who think to enrich themselves by fraud and tricking will, in the end, impoverish themselves, not only by bringing the curse of God on what they have, but forfeit their reputation with men. Those who are diligent and honest, who are careful about their affairs, and, what their hands find to do, do it with all their might, in a fair and honourable way, are likely to increase what they have.”

Both of these verses encourage us to be vigorous and diligent in our work. Hard work leads to success and wealth. Those who are lazy end up “poor” or with “nothing.”

Tim Keller said, “Work is so foundational to our makeup that it is one of the few things we can take in significant doses without harm. Indeed, the Bible does not say we should work one day and rest six or that work and rest should be balanced evenly but directs us to the opposite ratio. Leisure and pleasure are great goods, but we can take only so much of them.”

One way in which we can be diligent in work while also becoming financially independent is by starting our own businesses. President Trump campaigned on a very pro-business platform. We hope that much of what he proposes will be of benefit to small and minority-owned businesses. To that end, we encourage all black-owned businesses that are just starting out or that need additional funding in order to expand to apply for business loans with the Small Business Administration. If you do not have a business, consider starting one, and get the training to do so. The best way to be financially free is to have your own business. Owning a business will also benefit the community in which you live.

In closing, allow me to remind you that the only way America’s problems can be truly solved is through Jesus Christ, God’s Son who came to this earth two thousand years ago. The problem with people on this earth is sin. And Jesus came to die on the cross for our sins, so that we would not have to suffer eternal punishment in Hell. Billy Graham once said, “I do not believe that any man can solve the problems of life without Jesus Christ.” No matter what problems you are facing, you can only find the solution for your problems in Jesus Christ. If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, please allow me to show you how you can accept Him as your Savior today:

1. Accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 7:20, “For there is not a just man upon earth that doeth good, and sinneth not.” Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

2. Accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death…”

3. Accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28, “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”

4. Accept the fact that God loves you more than you love yourself, and that He wants to save you from hell. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

With these facts in mind, please repent of your sins, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and pray and ask Him to come into your heart and save you this very moment. Romans 10:9, 13 says: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you are willing to trust Christ as your Saviour, please pray the following prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins, and today I choose to turn from my sins. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Jesus Christ as my Savior and I choose to follow Him as Lord from this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

If you believed in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried, and rose again, allow me to say, congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour!
